Professional Advice Over the Counter

You are welcome to visit either of our herbal apothecaries for free advice from our team of highly qualified Medical Herbalists.  For minor illnesses, we will be very happy to give you a free over-the-counter consultation, and make up a herbal formula to suit your individual needs.  A record will be kept of that prescription for future reference.

Private Consultations

Should you require more in depth support, we will advise that you book a private consultation with one of us in the adjoining treatment room. During a full consultation, the practitioner will focus on identifying the cause of the disorder, formulating a prescription and treatment program specifically for your individual needs.  If appropriate, diet and life-style advice will also be given.

Allergy and Nutritional Laboratory Tests

Each patient is cared for as an individualWe work very closely with one of the most highly respected private diagnostic laboratories in the world, to offer our patients a wide range of highly accurate allergy, nutritional, stool and hormonal diagnostic tests.

The tests will require a blood, breath, saliva, urine or stool sample. All samples, with the exception of the blood samples, may be collected within the privacy of your own home.

We can arrange for the blood samples to be taken either at our clinics or at the laboratory. All samples are then sent directly to the laboratory for analysis. Please click "Diagnostic Tests" for further information.

We also offer the following therapies at our St Margarets clinic

Acupuncture:  Yiota Panayiotis is a fully qualified acupuncturist having trained at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in Reading. She is a registered member of the British Acupuncture Council and has been practising for eight years. Acupuncture is a system of medicine that has been practised by the Chinese for over two thousand years. The underlying principles of this system recognises that a vital force of energy, or “Qi”, flows along through certain pathways in the body. When this flow diminishes or becomes obstructed ill-health and disease will result. Symptoms that result are an indicator to the practitioner that the body has lost this ability to regulate and balance itself. By inserting fine needles at specific points along these pathways the f low of Qi can be stimulated or unblocked, restoring balance. It is widely considered to be beneficial for a range of illnesses and symptoms.

Yiota has in the past studied the martial art of Tai Chi which has developed into an interest in related practices, such as, Qigong and meditation, all of which are applied in her practice as an acupuncturist.

Nutritional Therapy seeks to identify potential nutritional imbalances and underlying causes, and how these contribute to your symptoms. Nutritional Therapy is tailored to the individual, recognising that everyone is bio-chemically unique in nutritional needs. At times, this may mean incorporating clinical tests to help this process. Sarah’s approach is not about restricting large numbers of foods or recommending ‘fad’ diets. Instead she focuses on providing practical, realistic, achievable advice for you, taking into account your genetics, lifestyle & your current health goals. If you are not sure what role Nutritional Therapy can play for you, Sarah offers a free 15 minute no obligation chat about your situation. Sarah works with both adults and children. Sarah is a member of the professional body BANT and is also registered with the CHNC.

Osteopathy and Cranial Osteopathy : Moira Mulvey graduated from the British College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1995 with a BSc (Hons) degree in Osteopathic Medicine and a Diploma in Naturopathy. After graduation she went on to study Cranio-Sacral Therapy with the Upledger Institute and Trigger Point Acupuncture. She then went to Canada to train as a Pilates Instructor as she finds this form of exercise an invaluable part of the rehabilitation process.

After graduation, Moira worked alongside many different and experienced Osteopaths for 3 years and as a Clinic Tutor at the British School of Osteopathy, before moving to Barbados to start her own practice. While there she also worked with the Barbados and West Indies Rugby Teams accompanying them on many international tours, including Hong Kong and Twickenham.

Osteopathy treats all conditions of the muscles and joints, combining scientific knowlege of anatomy, physiology and clinical methods of investigation with detailed examination of the musculo-skeletal system using the hands. Osteopaths diagnose and treat conditions that occur because of injury, stress, or postural imbalances, allowing the body to restore itself to normal function. All treatments are tailor-made for the patient. Cranial Osteopathy is a very gentle form of treatment using the body’s natural rhythm to restore balance. It is particularly useful for the treatment of babies and infants.
